Lullaby for a Winter Night

by Paul Jump

Close the curtains, put the light out.
Leave the sky to fight the night out.
Come to bed, where it is warm,
Dry and safe amidst the storm.

Close your ears to Winter’s violence,
Fill your dreams with peaceful silence.
Let the drains drink up the rain.
Let the gales all howl in vain.

Close your eyes and let me hold you,
Let the arms of love enfold you.
Let my whispers lull your brain;
Soon Spring will be here again.
